Notice is hereby given that the period for filing Affidavits of Candidacy for the office of School Board Member for the Bertha‑Hewitt School District has begun and will close at 5:00 PM on July 28, 2026.
Qualified individuals are encouraged to submit their Affidavit of Candidacy for the 4 available school board positions.
Eligibility Requirements: To file, candidates must:

Be an eligible Minnesota voter

Be at least 21 years old when taking office
-
Have lived in the Bertha‑Hewitt School District for at least 30 days
-
Hold no incompatible public office
-
Have no convictions requiring predatory offender registration
Key Dates:

Filing Window: July 14–28, 2026

Withdrawal Deadline: July 30, 2026

Election Day: November 3, 2026

Bear Bites


Bertha-Hewitt's ECFE classes are every Tuesday during the school year from 4:00-5:30pm and 6:00-7:30pm at the Early Childhood Center, enter Door 10.
Open to families along with their children ages 0 to 5. ECFE is a free program provided by Bertha-Hewitt in collaboration with Freshwater Education District. Sibling care provided for ages 5-12 (school age) so parents can bring preschoolers.

Families can register and attend at anytime.

The Bertha-Hewitt School's Targeted Services program is designed to help students catch up and stay on track in school, providing a supportive environment for improving reading and basic math skills.

Grades K-6: Targeted Services began November 18, 2025 and is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00pm. Registration is required.
